Fireside Topic: How are you preparing for hard times (natural disaster, terrorist attack, financial collapse)?

While we may enjoy an unprecedented level of comfort and ease, we shouldn’t fool ourselves into believing that situations which require preparedness to survive is a thing of the past. The survival instinct should remain strong in all of us. I think most often we are simply preoccupied by other things and forget that …

Growing up, my dad’s side of the family had a few Christmas traditions that were fun. Each year an adult would dress up like Santa and bring toys to the little ones. On both sides of the family we would typically open one present on Christmas Eve but later that became opening all presents on …

How Emotions Affect Your Health

Posted in - Health
on November 25th 2013

Movember is a great excuse to write an article or two on the topic of health. Unfortunately it is also the start of the holidays so any thoughts on dieting will be wholly ignored (for good reason). Thankfully our diet is really a smaller part of our health than we are typically told. Most people who are …

About Wolf & Iron

Some years ago I overheard a friend mention the words "Wolf and Iron" in passing. At the time I didn't know that he was referring to a book or that I had even heard him correctly. However, the raw manliness of that phrase struck a chord in me. I thought, "Those words should be used to encourage men to be men." I was excited to discover the book of the same title by Gordon R. Dickson shared many of the values I desired to learn and teach to other men. It tells a story of a young man, uncertain of himself, softened by our modern world, who becomes a true man through the trials of a post apocalyptic society, the shepherding by stronger, wiser men, and the confidence that comes through tested self-reliance.

There is a growing resurgence of masculinity in America and abroad. Men are feeling the High Call on our lives but find very few authentic examples in the modern generations of men to which we can look to for guidance.

Wolf and Iron is to be a voice and a light to the way of Manliness.
