Using beard butter and beard oil together is a common practice for men with a beard longer than an inch. A quality beard butter will serve to condition your beard while beard oil takes care of your face. But how can you use them both without overdoing it? Here are 3 ways to get the best of both worlds.
Tip #1: Reduce the Amount of Both
This is pretty obvious, but the reason may not be. While beard butter is primarily for conditioning your beard and hangs out on the beard hairs, it does have oils that make its way to the skin. This means it will provide some conditioning for your skin as well. For some guys, this is enough, but many will still want to use both an oil and a butter.
So, if you typically use 5 drops of beard oil, cut back to 2 or 3 if you're using a beard butter as well.
Tip #2: Use Beard Oil at Night
Because beard oil is for balancing the oils in your face and fighting inflammation, it can do that at night. Customers say our beard oil lasts over 24 hours in their beard. So, there's no reason you can't use it at night and then use a beard butter in the morning.
Why not use the butter at night?
- A butter sits on top of your beard - This means it is more likely to rub off on your pillow at night.
- A butter is also for styling - It makes more sense to apply a butter in the morning for a dash of dapper before heading out.
Tip #3: Alternate Days
You can use your beard butter one day and your beard oil the next. While you won't get the styling benefit of a butter on your off days, your beard will stay well conditioned.
There's no set rule here, so experiment and find out what combination and frequency of butter and oil works to keep your beard healthy and styling.
