I got married when I was just over 18 years old and let me tell you, it was a hard road for many years. Getting married young certainly has its benefits, but it also comes with its challenges. Perhaps this is what worries me when I see teens (or close to) planning their wedding. I have known a lot of young married couples, and more often than not they have done really well. However, the older I get, the younger 18 seems to me.
So, that leads me to the question: What is a good age for marriage? Or, perhaps, it isn’t about age but more about stage of life which is a little harder to quantify. Here are some things to think about:
- Can the couple be responsible for their own well-being?
- Are they mature enough to get advice on marriage issues?
- What are their future plans (kids\work)?
