While Theodore Roosevelt got a number of things wrong as president, he had great insight into what makes America strong or weak, and his words can easily be applied to any nation. Time and again, he enjoined people to not give in to soft-living but instead pursue the strenuous life of hard-work and purpose. He was certainly no hypocrite in this area.
Today’s #TRThursday quote is as applicable as it has ever been. Are there any of these that we are not about these days?

Final Thoughts
Notice how each of the points that TR gives is about character, not politics or the fiscal state of the union. Of course, he knows, as do we, that each of these bleed over into public life and the running of the country. As the people go, so goes the nation. As the men go, so go the people.
