Growing up my grandfather (Granddaddy) owned a small construction business primarily building garages. During the summer I would help out and this is one of the many things I learned that really stuck with me.
You can find some fancy ways to wrap up an extension cord like this one here but I think this is the easiest and most practical way. When you need to use the cord again you can literally throw it out in one toss and you are ready to go to work.
Wrapping an Extension Cord
Watch the video or follow the steps below
Step 1
Make sure the cord is stretched out with no kinks or twists. Plug the ends together and start wrapping using a simple overhand loop.
Step 2
Once you get to the last foot or so, pass it through the loop and back up.
Step 3
Teach everyone in the house how to undo this cord properly or they will make a tangled mess the next time they try to use the extension cord!
