Wolf & Iron Podcast #30 – Speaking to Reason, Politics, and Manliness with Stephen Mansfield

If you are a man looking to better yourself, you’ve likely heard of Stephen Mansfield. He’s the author of a number of books including Mansfield’s Book of Manly Men, The Search for God and Guinness, & The Faith of George W. Bush. He’s also a noted speaker and commentator, and regularly adds his voice to the topics of manhood and leadership. I’ve been looking forward to having him on the podcast for some time and getting his thoughts on reasoning with what seems to be an unreasonable generation, his man-on-the-street view of D.C. and politics, and what the common issues he sees from men.

Speaking to Reason

One of the great challenges facing us is reasoning with a culture that abhors absolutes and logic. Granted, there is a craving for it, but there is also a defiance to reason. Those who appear to be most adamant about an unmanly cause are the very ones we need to reach, yet the door to reasonable conversation seems to be closing. However, Stephen seems to be one of the few who can get the conversation going again, with admiration for his views and character on both sides of the political and philosophical isles.

Is D.C. as Bad as it Seems?

Mr. Mansfield spends a good deal of time in Washington, D.C. and yet has not succumbed to the typical conscience destroying pressure to play the game we all despise. I was eager to get Stephen’s view on D.C. and find out what the average man can do to make a difference.

What are Men Talking About?

Stephen speaks and interacts with men across the nation on a regular basis and so has a unique opportunity to hear men speak about what’s on their hearts and minds. My question for Stephen is this: “Are men speaking about a common issue or theme?”
